Five new grads join TFA corps

ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app was recently recognized for its legacy of social impact through alumni involvement with Teach for America (TFA). The college was named to TFA’s annual list of U.S. colleges and universities with the greatest number of graduates who enter the TFA corps.

Five members of Dickinson’s class of 2024 joined the corps this year, bringing the total of Dickinson TFA members, past and present, to 109.

TFA corps members teach for two years in a public school serving a low-income population. High-achieving college students and professionals from a variety of academic backgrounds are eligible to apply. Each must demonstrate perseverance and leadership and must express a commitment to dismantling inequities in the classroom and beyond.

This year’s 2,300 new TFA members hail from 652 colleges and universities and comprise one of the most diverse cohorts in TFA’s history. Sixty percent identify as people of color; 43% identify as first-generation college students and 64% come from low-income households. All have pledged to work toward equity and educational access in whatever profession they ultimately pursue.

Dickinson's rigorous academic programs, combined with a strong emphasis on civic engagement, prepare graduates to help meet these aims as leaders in their communities and in their professional lives. The college was first named a top-contributing TFA institution in 2012.
