Exercise and Walking Options
Walking, running, individual and team sports, and exercise in any form can be fun fitness options while reducing your stress and increasing your wellbeing. The college offers many fitness opportunities within our regularly scheduled wellness programs and activities, but there are also other options held in the local community. Some programs are open to employees as well as friends and families! Considering what to do to increase your exercise minutes? The options will be updated for 2023 very soon - some options below are from spring 2022 and previous Challenges, and may have changed. See the list below for activities, programs and ideas you may enjoy:
- Arbor Walk (also available as a self-guided walking tour): Complete this as a self-guided walking tour
- Carlisle Historical Walking Tour (a self-guided tour from the Cumberland County Historical Society: CCHS)
- Simply Moving | Walking Tours and Bicycle Routes: For a printed copy, stop by the Office of Human Resource Services!
- - available now for completing a virtual workout - 7 p.m. daily!
- Spring Into Fitness Challenge Kick-off: We encourage you to complete the Marathon in a Month activity to get started with the Spring Into Fitness Challenge!
- National Walking Day: Week 3 ~ Mid-Day Stroll on Wednesday, April 2 ~ Take a break and go for a mid-afternoon walk from wherever you are on this day. On National Walking Day, you may complete this individually or with a group virtually to keep heart healthy and get some fresh air! The hosts this national event annually, encouraging all to get out and walk for at least 30 minutes to promote health & wellbeing! - : Date to be announced! Art Around Campus Walk 2025 is sponsored by The Trout Gallery. This is your chance to learn about all of the cool art on Dickinson’s campus community, and get at least 4,843 steps. The route makes a large loop, beginning and ending with bronze outdoor sculptures that are part of The Trout Gallery permanent collection. To follow the route, simply click here to begin:
- Historical Book Walking Tour: Complete this historical book walking tour independently or with your "family." Start at the Benjamin Rush Statue to walk the route at a time convenient to you. - : On any day complete this self-guided walking tour. If you live in Carlisle...just start at the Britton Plaza seal at a time convenient for you to begin the walking tour of the Wayside Markers independently. The self-guided walk will explore historic Carlisle and it's ties to ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app!

- Wellness Fun Run Walk: Week 6 for 2025 is tentatively planned for Friday, April 25.
