Visual Resources Center

Student Positions

Each term or year depending on availability, the VRC hires student workers as Catalogers and Digital Studio Engineers. Art History Majors are hired as catalogers, while Studio majors are hired as Engineers. Both have very different tasks that provide assistance to the Librarian, the entire Art & Art History Department and the College at large.

Student Assistant--Digital Studio Engineer

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Visual Resources Center with scanning and Photoshopping images
  • Editing A/V issues in Final Cut Pro
  • Observe and edit any visual discrepancies and flaws

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • When applicable, assist others in VRC
  • Maintain analog slide collection

Qualifications:

  • Art Studio Major with Art History experience
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Research experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Good judgment and communication skills
  • Goal oriented
  • Must be comfortable working with software programs and be interested in learning new systems and software.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Final Cut Pro
  • ARTstor

Pay: $8.05
P/T, flexible, maximum 6 hrs. weekly

Student Assistant--Cataloger

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist Visual Resources Center with cataloging images and adding correlating text
  • Observe and edit any text discrepancies and flaws
  • Use web related thesauri to produce standardized schemas for images

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • When applicable, assist others in VRC
  • Maintain analog slide collection

Qualifications:

  • Art History Major
  • 3.0 GPA or higher
  • Research experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Good judgment and communication skills
  • Goal oriented
  • Must be comfortable working with software programs and be interested in learning new systems and software.

Desired Qualifications:

  • ARTstor
  • FileMaker Pro
  • Microsoft Office
  • Web oriented research
  • Apple and Windows platforms

Pay: $8.05

P/T, flexible, maximum 6 hrs. weekly
