Professor Meguro specializes in Japanese language pedagogy and Japanese Applied Linguistics. Her research interest is Interlanguage pragmatics, specially on Japanese refusal. She is interested in applying cutting edge technology into Japanese language education. In her courses, she incorporates language exchange using Skype and mixi and have students communicate native speaker of Japanese on regular basis. JPNS 101 Elementary Japanese
These courses establish the basic language skills including listening, speaking, reading and writing. These courses also provide students with a brief overview of Japanese culture.
JPNS 231 Advanced Japanese
The emphasis in this course is placed on enhancing the students' fluency and acquiring increasingly creative skills through composition, oral presentation and discussion.
Prerequisite: 202 or permission of the instructor.
