Library Privileges for Emeriti and Retirees

Borrowing: The primary mission of the ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app Library is to support the academic needs of current students, faculty and staff of ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app. Emeriti faculty, retired faculty and administrators, and retired staff will retain most of their borrowing privileges. To register for privileges visit the library during the academic year Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm, Saturday 10am - 5pm or Sunday 2pm - 5pm. For more information: see Loan Periods.

Recalls: Because the library exists primarily for the use of Dickinson’s current students and faculty, we reserve the right to recall library materials when necessary.  Please return the items within 24 hours of receiving the recall notice.  Replacement charges may be assessed if the item is not returned within 48 hours.

Overdues: You are exempt from overdue fines.  However, if an overdue item is not returned within 28 days of the due date the item is considered lost and you will be billed replacement plus processing costs ($100).

Responsibility: You are responsible for all books checked out on your card.  The card must be presented to borrow.

Interlibrary Loan: Emeriti and retirees are permitted to use interlibrary loan services at no charge when the material borrowed is obtained free of charge.  Some libraries do bill for their services and those charges will be passed to the patron making the request.  Book loans and articles received in paper format will be placed on the ILL shelves at the Circulation Desk.  Articles received electronically will be sent to your ILLiad account. For information on requesting items from ILL see Borrow From Other Libraries.

Off-Campus Database Access: Emeriti and retired faculty can access the library’s online catalog and databases from off campus through the proxy server using their Dickinson network login and password. All other retirees will not have access.

Printing Fee: Retirees may print from the two public access computers located on the Circulation Desk on the main floor.  There is a 10 cents per side printing charge for black and white, and a 20 cent charge for color printing. Emeriti and retired faculty will be able to print from any networked computer.

Microform Readers: In order to use microform readers in the Information Commons, retirees must see a supervisor at the Circulation Desk or ask the lower level service desk attendant to assist you with login.  Printing fees will apply.  Emeriti and retired faculty will be able to log on with their Dickinson network login and password.

Building Access: Retirees may enter the Waidner-Spahr Library during our general public access hours. For more information: Locations and Hours
