ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app and Hope Station Hired a Professional & Educational Empowerment Program Manager VISTA!
The VISTA will build community partnerships, organize professional development & volunteer opportunities, and support the Northside neighborhood as the Professional & Educational Empowerment Center Program Manager VISTA from 2021-2023. This position is an AmeriCorps VISTA hosted by ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app’s Center for Civic Learning & Action and , both located in beautiful Carlisle, PA!
The Program Manager VISTA supports access to job readiness training and employment opportunities in Carlisle’s Northside neighborhood by providing leadership for the Professional & Educational Empowerment Center (PEEC) computer lab, a project of Hope Station. Duties include: Refining management systems for PEEC – volunteer recruitment and management, assessment, documenting unmet needs and demand for training and resources; recruiting and scheduling college and community stakeholders to provide clinics and programs that enhance computer skills, job search effectiveness, resume writing, and employee soft skills. The VISTA will also identify opportunities for college and high school interns and courses to work with PEEC through service-learning and community-based research.

The Hope Station Opportunity Area Neighborhood Council bolsters community pride and creates opportunities for advancement through education, job development, and transformational leadership.

Carlisle, PA, is a beautiful, walkable community with a historic downtown center. Carlisle’s culture of collaborative community leadership is unique, and the VISTA will have the opportunity to work with our Carlisle Community Action Network. PEEC is located in the Northside, a low-income neighborhood that is the most racially and ethnically diverse in Carlisle. Close collaborations with neighboring organizations provide opportunities for connecting to social services including housing and food support.
