Double-bassist Gabriel Katz joins with Jeffrey Turner, principal bassist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and pianist Jennifer Blyth to present an eclectic repertoire of works by Donovan Stokes, Francois Rabbath, Ernest Bloch, Max Bruch and Giovanni Bottesini.

"Birth of Eve" by Judith Schaechter
The Jane L. and Robert H. Weiner Lecture in the Fine Arts

World-renowned stained-glass artist Judith Schaechter has works in the permanent collections of the Renwick Gallery (Washington, D.C.), the Victoria and Albert Museum (London) and the Museum of Art and Design (New York); she also is a recipient of Guggenheim, Pew and National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) fellowships. Schaechter will speak about her work, the importance of skill in art and the relationship between art and craft.

Artist-in-Residence JACK Quartet brings its "explosive virtuosity" (Boston Globe) to a concert that places Gregorian chant in dialogue with current works written for string quartet. The program was a featured concert at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2012.

Weiss Prize Concert: Night and Day

The Emil R. and Tamar Weiss Prize in the Creative Arts, established in 1986, is awarded annually to students majoring in English (creative-writing emphasis), theatre & dance, art & art history or music. This year's recipients, seniors Stephen Reale, Alexander Strenta and David Cochrane, present Night and Day, a concert featuring works composed by Reale and Strenta and conducted by Cochrane.
