David Williams '60

鈥 Dickinson prepared me to think, make decisions, analyze problems and do work I was not always specifically trained for 鈥 my professors鈥攅specially in the English and political science departments鈥攚ere outstanding.鈥

鈥擠avid Williams 鈥60


Majored in political science, minored in English and served as a senior class officer. Was active in ROTC, intramural sports, Skull and Key and student senate.  Washington Semester coursework led to a graduate scholarship. Earned a master鈥檚 in public administration (American University) and two law degrees (George Washington University). Oversaw social programs for roughly 3 million people per year as the U.S. Department of Labor鈥檚 deputy assistant secretary of national employment training. Earned four professional awards, including a presidential award for meritorious service. Volunteers for the D.C. Diocese of the Episcopal Church. Grandson Carson Rodriguez just finished his first year at Dickinson. (鈥淚 can鈥檛 say enough about the wonderful experiences he鈥檚 already had.鈥) Made gifts in memory of mentor Ben James 鈥34, who admitted him to Dickinson, and lifelong friend Roger Smith 鈥61.
