Kade Institute

Max Kade Center Writers-In-Residence Since 1994

Dickinson’s Max Kade Writer-in-Residence program is designed to further enhance and stimulate our students’ interest in the study of German culture.  Special efforts are made to attract writers whose works figure in seminars or upper-level topics courses offered in the German department. Kade writers participate in the general intellectual and cultural life of the campus by offering occasional public readings, lectures, or exhibits.  They also take part in upper-level courses and seminars where their expertise and work figure in the course's focus. Writers do not have formal teaching responsibilities. The residency at Dickinson provides the physical haven, the quietude, and the leisure needed for independent work.  It is a time for the writers to create new works free of financial concerns.

The Department of German has hosted the following authors through its Writers-in-Residence program.
