Claudia Bonaccorsi, Environmental Studies Major, Italian Minor and Food Studies Certificate
Claudia Bonaccorsi, Class of 2022, grew up in Rogers Park, Chicago, and decided to attend ºìÐÓÖ±²¥app because of the robust environmental studies program, the emphasis on study abroad, and the opportunity to study Italian. In high school, Claudia
was introduced to the subject of global warming in an organic chemistry class which would direct her academic and professional experiences onwards. It is important to her that she not only researches and analyses the climate crisis, but that she participates in solutions. The desire to take climate action brought her many professional experiences, from beekeeping in the Appalachian mountains and working as an intern at the Center for Sustainability Education, to being a Watershed Coordinator at the Alliance for Aquatic Resources Monitoring.
Although the pandemic disrupted her plans to spend a year abroad in Italy, she thoroughly enjoyed learning Italian at Dickinson and running Italian events with fellow members of the Italian Club. Along with an Italian minor and an Environmental Studies Major, Claudia earned a Food Studies Certificate. She is interested in how we interact with the environment, and how we can transform our relationship with the natural world to be more socially, environmentally, and economically sustainable. She aspires to be an influential designer of urban spaces; her urban upbringing has made her particularly passionate about the urban environment and sustainable cities.
