Patrick Robinson, Political Science Major and Economics Minor
Patrick Robinson is a Political Science Major and Economics Minor from New York City. He studied abroad for his whole junior year in Bologna, Italy, during which he conducted research on the Green New Deal for a course on Public Sector Economics at Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.
On Dickinson’s campus, Patrick has served Dickinson’s programming board, MOB, since his first year, and currently serves as MOB’s Vice Chair. In the event planning process, Patrick introduced questions relating to making MOB events more environmentally sustainable in accordance with Dickinson’s goal of carbon neutrality. Since these questions have been introduced, they have been formalized into the event planning process introducing and implementing sustainable practices in planning events for MOB, Patrick and his colleagues have significantly decreased the amount of waste produced at events. Patrick coordinated the design and implementation of signage at MOB events near recyclable and compostable items, and that same signage has since been implemented across campus. Patrick uses his experiences in the classroom discussing sustainability in American Politics to inform prospective students and their families on campus tours about how sustainability is discussed in a wide variety of disciplines at Dickinson.
