2019 Baird Sustainability Fellow

Izzy Smith, Policy Management Major and Health Studies Certificate

Baird Sustainability Fellow

Izzy Smith is a Policy Management Major pursuing a Health Studies Certificate from Groton, MA. Through coursework, internships and a semester aboard in Australia, she has focused her policy work around health and sustainability. Following graduation, she is hoping to pursue a career in healthcare administration and is particularly interested in integrating principles of corporate sustainability.

Izzy has held two previous internships in community based hospitals as an Administrative Intern and a Human Resource Intern. These internships have provided her exposure to executive level decision making in the healthcare field and have allowed her to experience policy change first hand. She has also worked on two extensive community-based research projects; one for a senior capstone in health studies which involved researching patient understanding of their roles in their healthcare, and another which involved researching workforce development in Carlisle.

Aside from working in Dickinson’s Center for Sustainability Education, Izzy is also a tour guide as well as a First-year Mentor. Izzy is honored to be elected a 2019 Baird Sustainability Fellow and partake in the colloquium this upcoming spring. She is looking forward to working alongside these peers who share her passion of making their surrounding communities more sustainable.
