Types of Accommodations

Academic Accommodations

Academic Accommodations

How does a student with a disability request academic accommodations? What documents should be submitted? How does the process work? Guidance is here, from disclosure to determination to implementation.

Housing Accommodations

Housing Accommodations

Housing accommodations are only granted due to substantial need as evidenced by the documentation submitted from a student’s healthcare provider. Policies and procedures are in place to ensure that adequate resources are maintained solely for students with disabilities.

Dietary Accommodations

Dietary Accommodations

Nearly all students' dietary needs can be met through collaborative efforts with Dickinson's nutritionist and Dining Services. In rare instances, students with high-risk dietary condition may require special dining-related services or an accommodation to the meal plan. The process for requesting a meal plan accommodation begins here.

Physical/Mobility Accommodations

Physical/Mobility Accommodations

Students who are utilizing mobility aids such as electric scooters, wheelchairs, canes, crutches etc. will find that most of Dickinson's buildings are accessible, and that careful attention is paid to the maintenance of elevators and lifts.

Chronic Medical Conditions

Chronic Medical Conditions

Students with chronic medical conditions may want to request academic accommodations, have information about their condition sent to their professors, or to simply make Disability Services aware of their condition. Learn how.

Temporary Impairment Services

Temporary Impairment Services

Students may have an injury, illness or other medical condition that does not meet the true definition of a disability, but we will make every effort to assist when these sudden and often unexpected situations arise, and offer guidance on steps students should follow.
