Design Services

Design Services partners with the editorial and visual media teams to craft print and digital materials that meet Dickinson’s messaging and design standards for external communications.

This includes alumni, prospective student and parent audiences. Our work spans brochures, invitations, posters, reports and event materials as well as other marketing collateral such as branded merchandise and environmental installations. For internal campus graphic design, please utilize the Dickinson Print Center, which is overseen by Design Services.

Have Questions?

Contact Design Services at design@dickinson.edu if you can’t find the answer below.

I submitted a design request form. Now what?
  1. If a meeting was requested, it will be scheduled to establish the project's scope, creative direction and budget. A project timeline is developed, usually involving at least two editorial and design reviews. Most projects are finished within five weeks, though more complex or extensive projects may require additional time.
  2. Share your content. You can upload files when you submit a request form or email them later to design@dickinson.edu. A OneDrive link is also acceptable. Please provide all written content in a Word document. This will be reviewed by editorial services for grammar, spelling and clarity.
  3. Review your digital proof. If edits are required, you must provide them via a marked-up PDF scan or by comments in Adobe Acrobat. If changes are needed, new proof will be sent.
  4. Approve your design. Then Design Services will submit your project for production through the Print Center or offset vendor. You do NOT need to complete a Print Center print request form.
  5. You will be contacted to pick up the completed project (if physical copies requested).

Can I get a new logo?

Additional logos are strongly discouraged and approved in limited cases only. Design Services must approve the creation of any tertiary branding logos. Primary branding (wordmark), including lockups, maintains the consistency of the Dickinson brand. Conversely, creating a multitude of logos dilutes Dickinson’s brand recognition and efficacy. All college visual communications must not diminish the visual impact of the wordmark or interfere with its integrity. Learn more in the Graphic-Identity Guidelines.
