Clair Marion ’25, a student-athlete from Clarks Summit, Pa., shines both in her academic pursuits and on the basketball court. Her decision to attend Dickinson was driven by its welcoming community, distinguished academic standing, unique programs and vibrant campus culture.
A guard/forward, Marion boasted impressive season averages of 17.5 points, 2.7 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game, earning honors.
“It’s a testament to hard work and dedication, not just by me but by the entire team and coaching staff,” Marion says.
After a challenging season ending in the Centennial Conference semifinal game, Marion and her team are setting their sights higher for 2025.
“Our goal for next season is to win the conference and make it to the NCAA tournament,” she says. “We also have the goal of going undefeated at home.”
Her commitment extends beyond the court into her academic life.
“I chose to major in biology because I’m interested in the medical field, and majoring in biology while following the pre-health track met all the prerequisites for heading to physician assistant school,” she explains.
Marion values the tight-knit athletic community at Dickinson, where deep connections among student-athletes thrive. She recalls a memorable team trip to Boston that culminated in a win against the eighth-ranked team in the country, followed by a celebratory dinner with live music.
“The best aspect for me is how close and connected the athletes on campus are,” she says.
Preparing for games involves a series of rituals for Marion, including spending time in the gym, always wearing the same outfit and praying during the national anthem. This blend of discipline and faith is crucial for her performance.
Balancing athletics with academics, Marion credits her success to the discipline and time-management skills honed through sports, which translate into effective organization and study habits. Reflecting on valuable advice, Marion emphasizes making the most of the fleeting college years, cherishing every moment. With her sights set on senior-year achievements and the NCAA tournament, she remains focused on her immediate goals and the broader collegiate experience.
